Communications Officer


Resource Recovery Group is a statutory local government authority established in 1991 by local governments in the southern part of metropolitan Perth. We deliver innovative and sustainable waste management solutions for the benefit of our communities and the environment.

Position details
Position type: Permanent full-time
Workdays: Monday – Friday 
Hours: 76 per fortnight
Remuneration: $60,000
Allowances: $3,000 vehicle and $520 phone allowance 
Pay cycle: Fortnightly
Location: Booragoon with occasional travel to Canning Vale

About the role
Working out of our Booragoon office, you will be responsible for assisting with the delivery of communication services across Resource Recovery Group including the Recycle Right Education Program, implementing communication plans and strategies, and promoting a positive image of the Resource Recovery Group and its services with communities, member councils, government and industry.

Skills and Qualifications Required

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in communications, community engagement, environmental education, or relevant discipline.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills including the ability to draft and edit communications material and the ability to liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Knowledge and experience of a wide range of social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok) for community engagement.
  • Able to take professional photos, create videos and media clips.
  • Ability and willingness to work on occasional evenings and weekends as required.
  • National Police clearance within three months

Desirable

  • Experience working in waste education/communication with knowledge of waste disposal and recycling practices and processes.
  • Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud software, including Acrobat Pro, InDesign and Photoshop.
  • Experience working with government, local government, community groups and academic institutions through seminars, workshops, activities, and events.
