Resource Recovery Group is pleased to announce the appointment of our new Acting Chief Executive Officer, Brendan Doherty. Brendan succeeds Tim Youé, who resigned in January, and will guide Resource Recovery Group into a new era with a commitment to continue realising our vision to maximise resource recovery and minimise climate impact.

With twenty-five years of experience at Resource Recovery Group, Brendan possesses a diverse skill set in the waste sector and climate domain.

His expertise extends to contributions in key industry groups such as:

Municipal Waste Advisory Council: Officer Advisory Group

Department Water Environment Regulation: FOGO Reference Group

Waste Management and Resource Recovery Association of Australia: Circular Economy, Energy from Waste and Carbon groups.

Australian Organics Recycling Association: WA Committee Member

Green Deal Alliance: FOGO Project Lead.

Brendan would like to extend his appreciation to the outgoing CEO, Tim Youé, acknowledging his impressive legacy. Tim played a pivotal role in steering Resource Recovery Group's operations to become the first metropolitan local government to successfully implement the three-bin FOGO system. He spearheaded the modernisation of our FOGO Processing Facility and Material Recovery Facility, and guided operations to consistently achieve state-leading waste resource recovery rates.

In assuming his new role, Brendan expresses his dedication to collaborating with our member councils and business partners to meet the 2025 WARR targets of 70 percent for kerbside resource recovery. These targets will serve as a driving force for Western Australia to achieve the 2050 goal of net-zero emissions.

Please join Resource Recovery Group in wishing Tim Youé well in his future endeavours and congratulating Brendan Doherty on his new role.
